5 key tech trends to watch in 2023

We live in an advanced age where new technologies and tools are developed and new versions of existing ones are released daily. IT professionals need to constantly update their skills with the technology currently on the market. This is the new normal. Knowing new tech trends every day and adapting them to make our lives easier

There are a lot of great apps and technologies that have come out of the COVID troubles, but 2023 should bring a lot of great technology.

1. Key technology to look for: the metaverse

The Metaverse was promoted in 2021 when Mark Zuckerberg took the concept to social media. Then, many companies around the world started exploring their own versions of the metaverse to be part of this innovation.

The metaverse is a digital domain that connects other technologies together, such as virtual reality and augmented reality, where users exist in a digital universe. It is a chance for every part of our lives to really be expressed in a different way.

GameFi and Play-to-Earn are two metaverse models that now provide stable income streams to people all over the world. These are excellent examples of the future implementation of the metaverse, as they show that people are willing to spend their time living in virtual worlds and earning money.

In addition to providing an opportunity for business owners to become marketing savvy, Metaverse is also a platform that facilitates efficient remote work. At the Metaverse office, you can meet clients from all over the world, collaborate with remote team members, and train and onboard new hires without physical distancing restrictions. This significantly reduces business and operational costs, especially for small start-ups.

2. Key technology to look for: artificial intelligence (AI)

AI technology is about being as intelligent as the human brain and how humans react. AI is making many contributions to society today. For example, in the form of virtual assistants such as Google Assistant, Siri, Cortana, and Alexa

AI dominates our lives to a large extent and doesn't seem to be going away any time soon. AI is becoming more powerful, more innovative, and capable of performing more human tasks with each passing day. A report by Gartner's AI Hype Cycle advises companies to "think early on innovations that are expected to go mainstream within two to five years, such as composite AI, decision intelligence, and AI at the edge.”

New AI tools and opportunities are expected to emerge as some human jobs are eliminated in the near future, as AI will take over and complete tasks in less than half the time that humans do.

3. Key technology to look for: DevOps

Development and Operations (DevOps) is an organizational approach that speeds up application development and eases maintenance of existing applications.

Many companies are now using DevOps to automate tasks. Companies like Netflix, Google, and Amazon are now using DevOps to make their teams more productive and efficient.

DevOps has two main applications within an organization:

  • Shorter software delivery cycles
  • Improving general product standards

By fostering collaboration between development and operations teams, companies can offer their customers faster software upgrades and feature rollouts. It also implies that businesses reduce errors and improve product quality. According to a report by Acumen Research and Consulting, DevOps is expected to reach $37,227 by 2030, at a CAGR of 20%.

DevOps transformation requires leveraging DevOps automation tools while redefining both your software development toolset and your development culture. The latter should align with key DevOps principles of collaboration, data-driven and customer-centric decision-making, constant feedback and improvement, shared ownership, and automation.

4. Key technology to look for: cybersecurity

The fact that cybersecurity has been around for a while doesn't look like other emerging technologies such as AI or robotics, but it is evolving just like any other. The number of jobs in cybersecurity is growing three times faster than jobs in other technologies. This is a testament to the great need for cybersecurity professionals.

In other words, cyber security is the part that helps protect businesses and organizations from electronic threats such as hackers and machines.

Cybersecurity has become a key issue for businesses as they continue to grapple with cyber threats associated with increased telecommuting and e-commerce, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Cybersecurity is therefore a challenge for everyone in 2023.

Successful exploitation of a vulnerable system allows attackers to perform a variety of malicious activities. Especially if the exploitation of the vulnerability gives malicious actors access to business-critical applications at the heart of the organization. and could even allow attackers to bypass financial payments or compromise potentially sensitive and highly regulated data.

5. Key technology to look for: quantum computing

It is used across industries for various innovations and calculations that were not possible with previous computers.

It also has the potential to benefit society in many ways, including through smarter investment decisions, accelerated drug and vaccine development, and innovation in transportation.

While today's supercomputers encode information in bits (0s and 1s), quantum computers are made up of quantum bits (qubits). Quantum computing can therefore exist as both 1 and 0 at the same time. This means that quantum computers are capable of multitasking, significantly speeding up results, especially in research and development. Evolving systems of quantum computing will benefit many industries, including machine learning, cybersecurity, healthcare, and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to current strategists, quantum computing has the potential to "be as revolutionary in the 2020s as smartphones were in the 2010s."

6. Conclusion

This is the age of modernization and digitization. The world is changing online, and the physical world is subject to each of these changes. Like it or not, technology advances rapidly, with new innovations and groundbreaking projects emerging every year.

2022 was a great year for technology, but let's see what 2023 brings and how far technology can take it.
